Concert ‘Children of Artsakh on the banks of the Neva’

From 12 to 24 June 2021 Musically gifted children from Artsakh, who went through the war, shelling, shelter basements and evacuation, but were not broken and did not lose the desire to develop creatively and create beauty, visited St. Petersburg at the invitation of the ‘Our Duty’ Charitable Foundation.

And within the framework of the International Festival ‘Palaces of St. Petersburg’, a concert ‘Children of Artsakh on the banks of the Neva’ was held with the help of children. Children from our native Armenian land, the Charitable Foundation ‘Our Duty’, together with the festival, were invited to our beloved city to join the great Russian culture, plunge into the atmosphere of St. Petersburg museums, parks and palaces, receive invaluable lessons from the best teachers of the St. Petersburg Conservatory. Fortunately for us here, in St. Petersburg and Russia, we have something to show and something to be proud of. Our children took away a lot of pleasant impressions from St. Petersburg with its bridges, rivers and canals, Tsarskoye Selo, in the Throne Room of which they attended a unique concert, Peterhof with its best fountains in the world, a performance at the Mariinsky Theater. Of course, their stay in Russia has become one more brick in the solid building of the centuries-old Armenian-Russian friendship and strong ties between Armenia and Russia. But most importantly, they took away the smiles and applauses of the audience from St. Petersburg. The ‘Our Duty’ Foundation expresses special gratitude to the President of the Festival, a member of the Board of Trustees of our Foundation Maria Sarkisovna Safaryants and her excellent employees.

The works by Bach, Vivaldi, Cavallini, von Weber, Vitali, Venyavsky, Eduardo di Capua, Albeniz, Arban, Alyabyev, Babajanyan, Avetisyan and other authors were performed during the concert.

The art of our children so captivated the audience that, by popular demand, an additional concert was held unscheduled, organized within the walls of the Armenian Cultural Center at the Armenian Apostolic Church of St. Petersburg on Nevsky Prospekt.

Before the concert, the children participated in the Sunday liturgy in the Church of St. Catherine and received the blessing of the rector of the Church of the Holy Resurrection Father Eprem.

And one of the concert participants, Gevorg Petrosyan, was invited to a concert at the Mikhailovsky Castle (Engineering Palace), where he performed on the same stage with the world-famous Italian saxophonist Federico Mondelci!

All the funds raised at the concert were used to implement important humanitarian projects of ‘Our Duty’ Foundation.
